The Farewell Ḥajj

It was the 10^th year of hijri. It had been announced in Madinah al-Munawwarah, as well as among tribes across the land, that the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would be leading those who went to Makkah al-Mukarramah to carry out ḥajj this year.

اللہ اللہ What a journey it would have been! Travelling to Makkah al-Mukarramah in the blessed company of the Greatest and Final Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. Imagine being honoured to perform ṭawāf of the Kaʿba and fulfil the rites of the loving act of worship that is ḥajj, under his sacred guidance and in his blessed company. سُبْحٰنَ اللہ

The Companions عَلَیْہِمُ الرِّضْوَان were overjoyed after hearing this news. All who heard about this felt elated upon their good fortune and began their preparations for this blessed journey. As the days of ḥajj approached, their love and devotion began to increase, and caravan after caravan arrived in Madinah al-Munawwarah. The streets of Madinah al-Munawwarah and its marketplaces increased in spirit and liveliness.

Such a unique blessing! Today, pilgrims gaze lovingly upon the sacred and blessed Green Dome, and they find peace and refreshment of their faith in looking at the blessed golden gates parallel to the Prophet’s sacred grave, whilst the Companions رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم were quenching the thirst of their devotion by gazing directly upon the matchless beauty of the Greatest and Final Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم.

اللہُ اَکْبَر These were the Companions عَلَیْہِمُ الرِّضْوَان; they were people with unique destinies. If only, for their sake, our destinies also shine, and we are also blessed to visit Madinah al-Munawwarah. May we be granted the honour of seeing the Greatest and Final Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم in our dreams and in wakefulness.
