Book Name:Hajj e Wida Ke Iman Afroz Waqiaat

This time, the Companions رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم again replied, اللہُ وَ رَسُوْلُہٗ اَعْلَم – “Allah and His Messenger know better.” The Greatest and Final Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم asked, اَلَیْسَ یَوْمَ النَّحْرِ – “Is it not the Day of Naḥr?” They all said yes.

After these beautiful questions and answers, the Greatest and Final Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم then announced, “Indeed! Just as this day, this city, and this month is sanctified, so too is your blood, your wealth, and your honour haraam for one another.”[1]

اللہ! اللہ Dear Islamic brothers! From this, we come to know the importance of the life, wealth, and honour of a Muslim.

Scholars say at this point, the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم raised the sanctity of a Muslim’s life, wealth, and honour, to the sanctity of Makkah. This means, a sin committed in Makkah, during the days of Hajj, and whilst one is in iḥrām, amounts to a compilation of wrongdoings. This is due to the fact it entails disobeying Allah Almighty and disrespecting Makkah, the days of ḥajj, iḥrām, and a holy month.

In the same way, dishonouring a Muslim, causing undue harm to him, unlawfully withholding his wealth; this is also a collection of many crimes. Firstly, this involves violating the rights of a Muslim, hurting his feelings, which itself is an act of disobeying Allah Almighty.

This also upsets Allah’s Messenger صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, as his ummah is most beloved to him. Yet, if a person was to harm a member of the Prophet’s صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم ummah, how could they think the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم would then love them?[2] A hadith mentions, مَنْ اٰذٰی مُسْلِمًا فَقَدْ اٰذٰنِی – “Whoever harmed a Muslim has certainly harmed me.”[3]
