Book Name:Naam e Muhammad Ki Barkat
The Hanafi jurist, Muftī Amjad ꜤAlī al-AꜤẓamī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه writes:
Muhammad is a beloved name and it has been praised greatly in hadith literature. If there is no fear of others distorting this name, then it should be kept. Another way is that the name Muhammad can be kept for Ꜥaqīqa and another name can be suggested for daily usage. This will save the name from being shown disrespect.[1]
The way of Imām Aḥmad Razā Khān
Imām Aḥmad Razā Khān said, “During the Ꜥaqīqa ceremonies of my sons and nephews, I named them Muhammad. Out of respect and to differentiate between them, I then issued them names for daily use.”[2]
The way of Imām Aḥmad Razā’s admirer
When Mawlana Ilyas Attar al-Qadiri دَامَـتْ بَـرَكَـاتُـهُـمُ الْـعَـالِـيَـهْ is requested to keep a person’s name, he usually names them Muhammad and then gives them another name for daily usage.
Name your son Muhammad and respect him
Whenever a person names his son Muhammad, he should treat him well and respect him due to this blessed name. The fourth Caliph of Islam, ꜤAlī b. Abī Ṭālib رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ narrates that the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “When you name your son Muhammad, then show him honour, make space for him in the gathering, and do not attribute him to something evil.”[3]
