معاذاللہ When they spoke ill of him, they would say, “Muhammad is like this, Muhammad is like that.” They themselves would feel ashamed that they say the name Muhammad (meaning, the one who is praised again and again) and then proceed to speak ill of him straight after.  

So instead, whenever they wanted to speak bad of him, they used the name Muhdammmam. This meant, “He who is spoken ill of again and again.”

A hadith in Saḥīḥ al-Bukhārī explains that when disbelievers started doing this, the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم addressed his Companions; “Do you not marvel at how Allah has safeguarded me from the disbelievers bad language? They curse Mudhammam, yet I am Muhammad.”[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Dear Islamic brothers! In terms of meaning, the blessed name Muhammad has another speciality. Reflect over the fact that the one whose qualities are limited, his praise is also limited. For example, there is a person with a hundred good qualities, so we begin to praise him. We mention one quality, then a second, then the third, and so forth. Eventually, we will have mentioned his hundred qualities, and his praise will come to an end.

Similarly, even if a person has a hundred thousand qualities and we begin to praise him, his praise will also eventually end.

Yet, the name of our Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is Muhammad, which means, the one who is given only praise upon praise. Muhammad صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم was being praised thousands of years before the creation of the heavens, earth, moon, starts, sun, humans, jinn and angels, and it will
