Remaining Madani pearls about voluntary fasts

*    If parents prohibit their child from keeping a voluntary fast due to concerns about health, children should obey them.^[1]

*    Once a voluntary fast is intentionally started, it becomes obligatory to complete it. If broken deliberately, making it up becomes mandatory.^[2]

*    If a worker or employee feels they cannot fulfil their duties due to voluntary fasting, they must seek permission from their employer. If they can manage their work effectively, permission is not necessary.^[3]

*    A student of Islamic knowledge must not keep voluntary fasts if it causes even the slightest hitch in their learning. Instead, they should fast on weekly holidays or suitable days.
