O people! The Hereafter is coming, the world is leaving, and there are people who desire each of them. Become those who desire the Hereafter, not the world. Indeed, today is the day of action and no accountability, but soon it will be the Day of Judgement, and there will be no opportunity to perform deeds then.^[1]

Dear Islamic brothers! It is a fact that the world is leaving and the Hereafter is coming. Time cannot be stopped, and every breath takes us closer to death. Soon, ꜤIzrāˈīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم, the Angel of Death, will come to us. We will stop breathing, our soul will be separated from the body, and our life in the world will be like an unfinished dream. Our wealth, comfort, achievements, rank, honour, and fame will not benefit us once we enter our dark graves.

The biggest regret

ꜤAbd al-Raḥmān al-Murrī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه narrates how Sayyiduna ꜤAlī once said:

Should I tell you about the greatest regret? It is the regret of a person who accumulates dirham after dirham and wealth upon wealth, but then dies, and everything he owns goes on to be inherited by others.^[2]

Dear Islamic brothers! Without doubt, it is regrettable if a person accumulates wealth but fails to benefit from it. After he dies, his inheritors spend it on luxuries whilst the hoarder is punished in the grave.

Speaking with the dead

SaꜤīd b. Musayyab رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه recalls:

We went once to the cemetery with ꜤAlī b. Abi Talib and he said,
