their previous sins are forgiven.[1]
2. Whoever performs iꜤtikāf for ten days during Ramaḍān; it is as though they performed two ḥajj and two ʿumrahs.[2]
* Performing iꜤtikāf during the final ten days of Ramaḍān is an emphasised Sunnha for the community. If everybody from the community abandons this, they all will be accountable. Yet, if one person does this, it will suffice for all.[3]
* Every iꜤtikāf is mustaḥabb, besides that which is Sunna muˈakkada or performed to complete a vow.
For regular iꜤtikāf, there is neither a condition of fasting nor any time restriction. One can make an intention for iꜤtikāf whenever entering the masjid.[4]
* The main purpose of performing iꜤtikāf in Ramaḍān is to seek the Night of Power (Laylat al-Qadr).[5]
* It is not a condition for iꜤtikāf to be performed in a jāmiꜤ masjid. It can also be performed in a masjid jamāʿat. This is a masjid in which an imam and muezzin are appointed, even if the five salah are not performed there in congregation.[6]
More Sunnahs and manners of iꜤtikāf will be discussed in study circles.
