Brief Introduction to Sayyiduna ꜤAlī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ
Dear Islamic brothers! Sayyiduna ꜤAlī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ is the fourth caliph of Islam. He was born in Makkah and accepted Islam at the age of 10.[3]
His mother named him Ḥayder and his father named him ꜤAlī. The Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم gave him the title اَسَدُ اللہ - the lion of Allah.[4] Sayyiduna ꜤAlī was amongst the first group of people who made hijra to Medina. He is also one of the ʿAshara Mubashhara – the ten Companions whose names were specifically mentioned by the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم regarding them entering Paradise.
He took part in the battles of Badr, Uhud and more.[5]
Stories of his strength and bravery are well known. After the third Caliph of Islam, ꜤUthmān b. ꜤAffān رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ was martyred, Sayyiduna ꜤAlī was appointed as his successor.[6]
