The excellences of sending ṣalāt upon the Prophet

عَنْ اَبِي طَلْحَةَ الْاَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ: اَصْبَحَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمًا طَيِّبَ النَّفْسِ يُرَى فِي وَجْهِهِ الْبِشْرُ قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ اَصْبَحْتَ الْيَوْمَ طَيِّبَ النَّفْسِ يُرَى فِي وَجْهِكَ الْبِشْرُ قَالَ اَجَلْ اَتَانِي آتٍ مِنْ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فَقَالَ مَنْ صَلَّى عَلَيْكَ مِنْ اُمَّتِكَ صَلَاةً كَتَبَ اللَّهُ لَهُ عَشْرَ حَسَنَاتٍ وَمَحَا عَنْهُ عَشْرَ سَيِّئَاتٍ وَرَفَعَ لَهُ عَشْرَ دَرَجَاتٍ وَرَدَّ عَلَيْهِ مِثْلَهَا

Abū Ṭalḥa Anṣārī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ narrates that the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم was very happy one morning, and when the Companions asked why, he said, “Allah revealed to me, ‘Whoever from your nation sends ṣalāt upon you once, I will record ten good deeds for them, forgive ten of their sins, elevate them by ten ranks, and bestow ten mercies upon them.’”^[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Speech intentions

The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said: اَفْضَلُ الْعَمَلِ اَلنِّيَّۃُ الصَّادِقَۃُ - “The best deed is a sincere intention.”^[2]

O those who love Allah’s Messenger! Make it a habit to form good intentions before every action, as good intentions can lead one to Paradise. Before listening to this speech, make the following good intentions:

*    I will listen to the entire speech to gain knowledge.

*    I will sit respectfully.
