Book Name:Nafarmani Ka Anjam
Keep these points in mind and assess the condition of your heart. Our condition is such that we enjoy committing sins for hours without any regret. Our hearts are not inclined towards praying. When we are engaged in useless activities, we do not care how much time we waste. If we decide to recite the Quran, we postpone it by engaging in other tasks. During Ramadan, we use the heat, work and other petty excuses to not fast. We laugh during funeral processions, failing to take heed from death. Unfortunately, this is a result of our heedlessness and the darkness of our hearts.
Dear Islamic brothers, we must be concerned if sinning has hardened our hearts and caused us to have no remorse.
The consequences of sinning continuously
Sayyidunā Manṣūr bin ꜤAmmār رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَلَيْه states:
I had a religious brother who loved me very much. In my eyes, he was someone who performed a lot of worship, prayed Tahajjud and wept out of fear of Allah Almighty. One day, I was told he fell ill and had become very weak. I went to his home to visit him, and I saw him lying on the floor. His face was dark, and his eyes were blue. I said, “My brother! Say لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللّٰہُ!” He opened his eyes and looked towards me with great difficulty before falling unconscious. I encouraged him to recite again, so he opened his eyes. He looked towards me, and his eyes closed again. This time, I addressed him harshly, “If you do not recite لَا اِلٰہَ اِلَّا اللّٰہُ, I will not wash your body, nor shroud you, nor will I participate in your funeral.”
Upon hearing this, he replied, “O Manṣūr! A barrier has been placed between me and the Kalimah.”
