*   Do not engage in useless conversation as you travel to a grave or shrine.[2]

*   At the cemetery, walk on the path where there have never been graves of Muslims in the past. Do not walk over a newly constructed path. It is stated in Radd al-Muḥtār: “It is forbidden to walk upon new pathways (that are constructed over graves).”[3] Even if you merely suspect it is a newly constructed pathway, walking upon it is impermissible and a sin.[4]
