Become seekers of the Hereafter

The fourth Caliph of the Muslims, Sayyidunā Alī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ states:

O people! The Hereafter is approaching and the world is leaving, and each of them has seekers. Be those who seek the hereafter and not those who seek the world. Today is the time of performing good deeds and not the time for accountability, but tomorrow will be the time for accountability and not the time to perform actions.[1]

The contentment of the Lion of Allah رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ

Dear Islamic brothers! How lofty the abstinence of Sayyidunā Alī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ was. He was اَمِیْرُ الْمُؤْمِنِین and خَلِیْفَةُ الْمُسْلِمِین. He was the head of state, and could have lived a life of luxury and pleasure. However, he favoured a life of abstinence, piety, patience and contentment.

Sayyidunā Suwayd b. Ghaflah رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ states:

I entered upon Sayyidunā Alī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ in the state building in Kufa. Before him, there was barley flatbread and a cup of milk. The bread was dry; at times, he would break it with his hands, and at other times, upon his knees. This bore down heavy upon me. So, I said to his servant girl, Fiḍḍah رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهَا, “Do you not have mercy on this Shaykh and sieve for him this barley. Do you not see what he is enduring?”
