and raises from him blindness [i.e., that which is a veil to inner sight].^[1]

O ꜤAlī! What will you do at that time?

Dear Islamic brothers! When we hear about abstinence, piety, aversion for the world, etc., Satan whispers in our hearts that the world has changed, those states do not remain, all that cannot happen, and one has to move with society, etc. Listen to the following Hadith, which is a remedy for these whisperings. Sayyidunā ꜤAlī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ states:

The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “O ꜤAlī! What will you do when people will become heedless concerning the Hereafter, covetous of this world, devour inheritance voraciously, love wealth intensely, enter into the religion that which is not from it, and they will lean towards power?”

I replied, “I will leave them and what they have chosen and choose Allah Almighty, His Messenger and the Hereafter. I will be patient upon the difficulties and afflictions of this world until I meet you. Allah willing.”

He صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم responded, “You have spoken the truth. O Allah Almighty make him do that.”^[2]

If we review society a little, is the reality described by this Hadith not occurring right now?

The beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stated: “…people will become disinclined concerning the Hereafter.” People are distant from contemplating the Hereafter. A large proportion of people are heedless of the remembrance of the grave and the Hereafter.

The beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stated that people will become: “…covetous of this world…” Today, most people are gripped in the love of this world.

The beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم stated that people will, “…devour inheritance voraciously…” Nowadays, there is deception
