Book Name:Shair e Khuda Ka Zuhad

the rank of Sayyidunā Alī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ that Allah Almighty embellished him with this favoured adornment.

If only we too are blessed with abstinence from this world, the love of the world departs from our hearts, and the love of Allah Almighty and the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم permeates in our hearts in such a way that there is no scope for anything else inside them.

The command to the Ummah to not be desirous for the world

Allah Almighty states:

لَا تَمُدَّنَّ عَیْنَیْکَ اِلٰی مَا مَتَّعْنَا بِہٖۤ اَزْوَاجًا مِّنْہُمْ

Do not look upon that with which We granted benefit to factions among them.[1]

The noble scholars state:

This command is actually for us devotees of the Messenger of Allah, i.e., we Muslims have been informed, ‘O devotees of the beloved Prophet! What kind of blessings you have received for the sake of the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! You have been granted faith, Islam, the noble Quran, and the merciful embrace of such a beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. Then, for the sake of this noble Messenger صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, you will be granted the everlasting bounties of Paradise اِنْ شَــآءَالـلّٰـه. The disbelievers are not destined for this. Therefore, do not raise your eyes to the finite worldly wealth and means the non-Muslims have been given. Do not look upon that with covetous eyes.
