virtues that we can learn from in the blessed life of Sayyidunā Alī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ.

Greatest ascetic amongst the Prophetic Companions رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم

One of these great characteristics is his asceticism. This is one of his special qualities. The great Hadith master, Sayyidunā Sufyān b. Uyaynah رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه states, The greatest ascetic amongst the noble Prophetic Companions رَضِیَ اللهُ عَنْهُم was Sayyidunā Alī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ.[1]

Asceticism was the adornment of Sayyidunā Alī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ 

The Prophetic Companion, Sayyidunā Ammār b. Yāsir رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ relates that the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم once said to Sayyidunā Alī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ, O Alī! Indeed, Allah Almighty beautified you with an adornment that He did not embellish His creation with an adornment more beloved to Him than it. It is the embellishment of the righteous in the court of Allah Almighty; al-Zuhd (abstinence from the world). So, He made you not take anything from the world, made the world not take anything from you, and He granted you love for the poor.” [2]

Asceticism is an adornment

سُبْحٰنَ اللہ Dear Islamic brothers! It becomes apparent from this noble Hadith that asceticism is an adornment, and what kind of adornment? The embellishment of the pious servants of Allah Almighty and that adornment which is beloved to Allah Almighty. May we be sacrificed for
