A man visited Pīr Meher ꜤAlī Shāh رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه, and said, “Allah states in the Quran:
اِنَّکَ مَیِّتٌ وَّ اِنَّہُمْ مَّیِّتُوْنَ (۳۰)
˹Dear Beloved Prophet!˺ Indeed you will taste death and they too will die.[1]
Translation from Kanz al-ꜤIrfān: Dear beloved Prophet! Indeed, you will taste death and they too will die.
This verse clearly informs us that the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم will pass away. Therefore, how can it be said the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is alive in his grave?”
Pir Meher ꜤAlī Shāh رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه replied, “This verse tells us the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم will experience death, but it does not say this state will remain forever. It is our belief that the promise of Allah is fulfilled, and the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم died momentarily before he صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم was granted life again like his preceding tangible, worldly life.[2]
The noble companions رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُم asked, “O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! How will our ṣalāt be presented to you after your apparent passing?” Allah has forbidden the earth to consume the bodies of the Prophets عَـلَـيْـهِمُ الـصَّلٰوةُ وَالـسَّـلَام.”[3]
