paradise in the Hereafter, or to enter the court of Allah immediately.”

I responded, “O Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم! May my parents be sacrificed for you! Choose to enter Paradise in the Hereafter.”

The Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “No, O Abū Muwayhibah. I have chosen the meeting with Allah.”

After this conversation, the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم prayed for the deceased in al-BaqīꜤ and returned home. The next day, the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم felt pain, which continued until his apparent passing.[1]

Illness began with a headache

Dear Islamic brothers! The illness which led to the Holy Prophet’s صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم passing started as a headache. The mother of the believers, Lady ꜤĀˈishah رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهَا said:

The Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم returned home from al-BaqīꜤ after the funeral prayer and burial of one of his Companions. I had a headache at the time and said, “Oh my head!” The Prophet  صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “O ‘ꜤĀˈishah! (Not your head) rather my head!” This is when the illness began which led to his apparent passing.[2]

Dear Islamic brothers! This narration teaches us about the virtues of Sayyidah ꜤĀˈishah رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهَا.
