صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد
When did the final illness of the beloved Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم begin?
The Companion of the Prophet, Sayyidunā Abū Muwayhibah رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ said:
Allah Almighty commanded the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم to pray for the forgiveness of the people buried in Jannat al-BaqīꜤ. So, the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم prayed for their forgiveness for three nights. When he went to al-BaqīꜤ for the second time in the middle of the night, he said to me, “O Abū Muwayhibah! I was commanded to pray for the forgiveness of the people buried in al-BaqīꜤ. Prepare my mount.” I prepared the Prophet’s mount and he set off to the cemetery whilst I walked there.
When he reached the cemetery, he dismounted and I held the reins. Then, the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم greeted the deceased in al-BaqīꜤ, السَّلَامُ عَلَیْکُمْ یَا اَہْلَ الْمَقَابِرِ O people of the cemetery! Peace be upon you. After speaking to the deceased, the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم turned to me and said, “O Abū Muwayhibah! The keys to the treasures of the world were given to me, and I was given the choice of living in the world forever and entering
