Sunnas and etiquettes of salam

Dear Islamic brothers! Here are some Sunnas and etiquettes of offering salam, taken from Mawlana Ilyas Attar al-Qadiri’s booklet 101 Madani Pearls.

*    When meeting a Muslim, it is a Sunnah to greet him with salam.

*    It is written in Bahār-e-SharīꜤat:

When greeting with salam, an intention should be made that the wealth and honour of the person you are greeting is under your protection and it is forbidden for you to interfere with them.[1]

*    No matter how many times you meet someone during the day or meet the same people in different rooms, greeting them with salam is a good deed.

*    It is a Sunnah to greet with salam first.

*    Greeting with salam first is a sign of closeness to Allah Almighty.
