Book Name:Pyary Aaqa Ka Pyara Dost
نَاوِلْنِیْ ذِرَاعَہَا
Give me a foreleg.
So, Abū ꜤUbayd presented the second foreleg.
After a while, the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم declared again:
نَاوِلْنِیْ ذِرَاعَہَا
Give me a foreleg.
Abū ꜤUbayd said: "O Messenger of Allah! A goat has only two forelegs, and I have already given you both!"
Upon hearing this, the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم replied:
By He in whose control is my soul! If you had remained silent, then as long as I asked, you would have kept giving and the goat’s forelegs would never have finished!"[1]
Look at the beautiful way the Companion was corrected. A goat only has two forelegs, which was known by the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم and His Companion. Yet, the Prophet صَلَّى الـلّٰـهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم showed his prophetic words should be relied upon. He highlighted his Companion should not focus on simply what the latter could see. He explained if the Companion did not say anything, he would have continued asking and more forelegs of the goat would have come forth.
May Allah grant us firm faith and unwavering conviction.
