That righteous man had been granted a lifespan of 700 years, yet he still considered it too short and chose not to waste it in worldly pursuits.
Now, compare this to our own lives.
How long do we live? On average, only 60 to 70 years. Yet, we behave as if we will live in this world forever! We are filled with greed and obsessed with accumulating wealth. We desire luxurious homes. We focus on increasing our bank balances. We chase after expensive cars and grand mansions. But do we think about the Hereafter?
We forget that one day, we will be lowered into our graves. We will be resurrected on the Day of Judgment. Our deeds will be weighed on the Scales and we will have to cross the Ṣirāṭ. But we show no concern for these realities!
If only we could develop true concern for the Hereafter!
