وَ کَذٰلِکَ  اَوۡحَیۡنَاۤ  اِلَیۡکَ قُرۡاٰنًا عَرَبِیًّا لِّتُنۡذِرَ اُمَّ الۡقُرٰی وَ مَنۡ حَوۡلَہَا وَ تُنۡذِرَ یَوۡمَ الۡجَمۡعِ لَا رَیۡبَ فِیۡہِ ؕ فَرِیۡقٌ فِی الۡجَنَّۃِ  وَ فَرِیۡقٌ فِی السَّعِیۡرِ (۷)

And thus, We have revealed an Arabic Quran to you, so you may warn the central city and everyone around it and warn of the Day of Gathering in which there is no doubt, ˹when˺ a group will be in Paradise and a group in the Blaze.^[1]

A purpose of revealing the noble Quran has been mentioned in this verse; and what is that? To create fear of the Day of Judgement in people’s hearts.

This is a fundamental reason for revealing the noble Quran. So, let us keep this in mind and reflect:

*    The noble Quran is a book of guidance, and why was it revealed? To increase fear of Allah Almighty within the hearts. So, we come to know that fear of Allah Almighty is a means of attaining guidance.

*    It is through the noble Quran that nations achieve prosperity, success and elevation. And why was the noble Quran revealed? To increase fear of Allah Almighty within the hearts. So, we learn that through the blessings of fearing Allah Almighty, one attains prosperity, success and elevation.

*    The noble Quran brings about closeness to Allah Almighty, and why was it revealed? To increase fear of Allah Almighty in the hearts. Therefore, through having fear of Allah Almighty, one attains closeness to Him.
