them the great blessing of the Night of Power in order to please the beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم.

An exclusivity of this ummah

Allah Almighty granted us the Night of Power for the sake His beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. This bounty is an exclusive favour for this ummah, which was not granted to the previous nations. Just as Sayyidunā Anas b. Mālik رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ narrates that the noble Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said, “Allah Almighty gifted my ummah the Night of Power, and He did not grant this night to those who came before them.”[1]

Some virtues of the Night of Power

Dear Islamic brothers! Tonight is the 27th night of Ramadan, and most scholars are of the opinion that the Night of Power is on the 27th night of Ramadan. Therefore, we have hope that tonight is the Night of Power. It is the night of forgiveness, the night of mercy, it is the night in which an act of worship is better than worshipping for a thousand months, and it is the night of safety.

Sayyidunā Abdullah b. ꜤAbbās رَضِیَ الـلّٰـهُ عَنْهُمَا reports that the beloved Prophet   صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said:

When the Night of Power arrives, with the permission of Allah Almighty, Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم descends to the earth with a green flag and a large group of angels. He affixes this green flag on the KaꜤbah. Jibrīl has one hundred arms, two of which he only opens on this night, and those arms spread from the east to the west. Jibrīl then commands the other angels to give salām to and shake hands with every Muslim who is standing or sitting and engaged in prayer or the remembrance of Allah Almighty, and to say
