This is a fundamental purpose of the Quran’s revelation. Now, let us reflect upon this:

*    The Quran is the Book of Guidance—and why was it revealed? To increase the fear of Allah in our hearts.

*    This proves fearing Allah is a means of receiving guidance.

*    Acting upon the Quran is how nations progress, succeed, and gain honour—and why was it revealed? To increase the fear of Allah in our hearts.

*    This shows how fearing Allah brings success and honour.

*    The Quran draws one closer to Allah—and why was it revealed? To increase the fear of Allah in our hearts.

*    This evidences how fearing Allah is key to attaining closeness to Him.

If we continue to contemplate, we realise:

*    The Quran contains knowledge of past and future generations.

*    It is a light.

*    It is Allah’s strong rope.

*    It is a means of salvation.

*    And, it will intercede on the Day of Judgement.

And why was it revealed? To increase the fear of Allah in our hearts. If we truly, sincerely, deeply begin to fear Allah and prepare for the Day we must stand before Him, only then will we attain honour, success,
