Now imagine! In these unimaginably severe and terrifying circumstances, our name will be called: "O so-and-so, son of so-and-so! Present yourself before your Lord!" After being summoned, we will hesitate, tremble, try to hide our faces. Yet, who can hide on that day?

Angels will seize us and present us before Allah. How will we be able to account for every single deed in such a situation? Our book of deeds will be placed in our hands, a record of everything we have ever done.

At that moment, the guilty ones will cry out:

یٰلَیْتَنِیْ  لَمْ  اُوْتَ کِتٰبِیَہْ  (ۚ۲۵) وَ  لَمْ  اَدْرِ  مَا حِسَابِیَہْ (ۚ۲۶) یٰلَیْتَہَا کَانَتِ الْقَاضِیَۃَ (ۚ۲۷) مَاۤ  اَغْنٰی عَنِّیْ  مَالِیَہْ (ۚ۲۸) ہَلَکَ عَنِّیْ  سُلْطٰنِیَہْ (ۚ۲۹)

“Alas, would that I had never been given my record of deeds. And I had not known my accountability. Alas, would that it (death) had ended my matter. My wealth has not availed me. My power has gone from me.”[1]

What Answer Will We Give

This is a serious time for us to pause and reflect. How will we give accountability on that Day?

Unfortunately, we have no fear of what is to come. We are heedless and lazy. We find ourselves deceived by greed for wealth and lost in desire for worldly fame. Whispers from our nafs and Satan influence our every action. We forget the Hereafter, entangle ourselves in sins, and not only commit wrongdoings but also persist in them.

We avoid repentance. We may feel ashamed before people, yet we do not feel shame before our merciful Lord. We engage in sins under the cover of darkness, in closed rooms, thinking we are hidden. But
