Fearing Allah leads to guidance

Dear Islamic brothers! One of the main purposes of the Quran is to instil fear of Allah and consciousness of the Hereafter in our hearts. The Quran, with its unique wisdom, changes lives and transforms entire nations. How does it do this? It brings this positive revolution by making us fear Allah.

When fear of Allah overcomes the hearts, society begins to follow the right path.

If I were a king…

Today, we must seriously understand the wisdom of the Quran. It is a fact that fearing Allah is what reforms a person from within.

Abū al-Jawzāʾ رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه used to say, “If I became king, I would build towers along the roads, station people on top of them, and give them the duty of continuously saying: ‘O people, Hellfire! O people, Hellfire! O people, Hellfire!’”[1]

This shows Abū al-Jawzāʾ understood very well that if people were conscious of Hellfire; then not just one individual, but the entire nation would be guided.

Let us think about ourselves:

*    How many times has even a slight fear of Allah made us tremble and want to do good deeds?

*    How many funerals have we seen without taking heed?

*    When an earthquake suddenly strikes, do people not stop their sins and begin remembering Allah?
