Book Name:Safar e Meraj Aur Pyari Namaz

The three phases of Mirāj

Allah says in the Quran:

Glory be to Him Who took His bondsman by the night from the Sacred Mosque (the Ka'bah) to Al-Aqsa Mosque around which We have placed blessing, in order that We may show him Our great signs. Indeed, He is the All-Hearing, the All-Seeing.[1]

There are three phases to this journey.

1. First was the terrestrial MiꜤrāj, which was from Makkah to Masjid al-Aqṣā, and this is known as the Isrāˈ.

2. Second was the celestial MiꜤrāj, from Masjid al-Aqṣā to Sidrat al-Muntahā. This is known as the MiꜤrāj.

3. Third is the lā makānī MiꜤrāj, from Sidrat al-Muntahā to lā makān. This is called the ꜤUrūj.

This verse we just heard describes all three parts of this journey. Muftī Aḥmad Yār Khān Naʿīmī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه interprets it as follows:
