He صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم then said, “All praise is for the Generous Lord Who sent me as a victor and as the final Prophet.” Hearing this, Ibrāhīm عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم then turned to the other Prophets and declared, بِہٰذَا فَضَّلَکُمْ مُحَمَّد – “Muhammad is superior to you due to these qualities.”[1]
The final brick in a luminescent house
The following narration can be found in famous books of Hadith, such as Ṣaḥīḥ al-Bukhārī, Ṣaḥīḥ Muslim, Sunan al-Tirmidhī, and Musnad Aḥmad.
The final Prophet of Allah, our master Muhammad صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم said:
My similitude and that of the Prophets preceding me is that of a man who builds a beautiful and elegant house, yet leaves one brick unplaced in a corner. People circle it wondering at its beauty, but say, “If only this brick was put in its place!” I am that brick, and I am the last of the Prophets.[2]
In another narration, it is mentioned, “I am the place of that brick. With my arrival, the Prophets were brought to an end.”[3]
Explaining this Hadith, Mufti Aḥmad Yār Khān رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه writes:
سُـبْحٰـنَ الـلّٰــه What a beautiful example! Prophethood was described as a beautiful house, whilst the Prophets themselves were mentioned to be the bricks that comprise it. Our master Muhammad صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is like the final brick in that house, which when placed, completes it. This shows how he صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is the
