صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Angel Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم and belief in the Finality of Prophethood

When discussing the fact that our master Muhammad صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is the final Prophet of Allah, Imam Aḥmad Razā Khān رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه wrote:

The Archangel Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم once came to the Beloved Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم  and presented salām in the following manner: السَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَاظاہِرُ! اَلسَّلَامُ عَلَیْکَ یَابَاطِنُ – “O ẓāhir Prophet, may salam be upon you! O bāṭin Prophet, may salām be upon you!”

The Greatest Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم declared, “Jibrīl, these attributes are for Allah, and they befit only Him. How could they be utilised in my regard?” 

Archangel Jibrīl عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلاَم replied, “Allah Almighty has granted you excellences by these attributes. You were granted a rank above all other Prophets and Messengers. From His names and attributes, He bestowed upon you names and qualities. He named you awwal, as you were made before all other Prophets. He named you ākhir, as you came after the eras of the other Prophets, and you are the final Prophet of the final ummah.”

“Allah Almighty named you as bāṭin. Two thousand years before Ādam عَـلَيْـهِ الـسَّـلَام was created, He wrote your name in light next to
