defender of the belief regarding the finality of the Prophet Muhammad’s صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم prophethood. Along with his research and discussions on over a hundred branches of knowledge, the imam also brilliantly elucidated this topic.

Let us now gain blessings from listening to what the Imam رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه wrote about the finality of prophethood. 

By Allah, there is nobody like you

Imam Aḥmad Razā Khān رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه was once asked, “Is it possible for another Muhammad to be born in this world?”

The questioner was not asking if another prophet could come, but instead asking if somebody exactly like the Prophet Muhammadصَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم  could be born. The imam then issued the following amazing reply:

Muhammad صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم; the Messenger of Allah, awwal, ākhir, ẓāhir, and bāṭin, mālik, mukhtār, and the leader of all Prophets. Allah Almighty made him رَحْمَۃٌ لِّلْعَالَمِیْن  and خَاتَمُ النَّبِیّٖن. There never has and never will be anybody like him in this world. The way another Creator is impossible, another Muḥammad is also impossible.^[1]

This was the imam’s reply. Now, when it came to explaining this with proof, he رَحْمَةُ اللهِ عَلَيْه said:

The Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم is an auspicious, matchless, and unique personality. Allah Almighty sent him as the last and final of all Prophets.
