final Prophet. There was no other prophet in his time, nor will there be one after him.[1]

There is no prophet after me

The fourth Caliph of Islam, Sayyidunā ꜤAlī b. Abī Ṭālib رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ once said:

I was once unwell. I presented myself before the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم. He stood me in his place, offered prayer, and placed part of his blessed shawl upon me. He صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم then declared, “O ꜤAlī رَضِىَ اللهُ عَـنْهُ! You have recovered. There is no affliction upon you. Whatever I asked Allah Almighty for myself, I asked for you also. Allah Almighty granted me what I desired, but He also announced to me, لَا نَبِیَّ بَعْدَکَ – ‘There is no prophet after you.’”

Sayyiduna ꜤAlī رَضِىَ اللّٰهُ عَـنْهُ then said that he became so healthy that it was as though he was never ill.[2]

Dear Islamic brothers! The Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم clearly said, لَا نَبِیَّ بَعْدِی – “There is no prophet after me”. This famous Hadith concisely and perfectly explains the belief of Finality of Prophethood. These very words, or similar wordings, were mentioned by the Prophet صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم not once, not twice, but on a host of occasions.

We should try our absolute best to memorise this and teach it to our children. We should all know and tell others that our Prophetصَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم  said, لَا نَبِیَّ بَعْدِی  – “There is no prophet after me”.[3]
