4.   Whoever says a prophet can come in another place besides earth (for example, the seven heavens and seven earths) becomes a non-Muslim.

5.   Whoever says, “A human prophet can no longer come, but one can in other species or forms of creation”; such a person becomes a non-Muslim.

Whoever doubts the disbelief of the people who say such statements, becomes a non-Muslim and apostate himself. Such people are outside the fold of Islam.[1]

صَلُّوۡا عَلَى الۡحَبِيۡب                                     صَلَّى اللّٰهُ عَلٰى مُحَمَّد

Verdict upon asking false claimants of prophethood for proof

Shaykh Abū Manṣūr al-Māturīdī رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه writes, “After the arrival of the Prophet Muhammad صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم, whoever claims to now be a prophet will not be asked for evidence and instead have their claim vehemently rejected.”[2]

This is because the Messenger of Allah صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَاٰلِهٖ وَسَلَّم clearly said, لَا نَبِیَّ بَعْدِی  “There is no prophet after me.”[3]

In summary, Imam Aḥmad Razā Khān رَحْمَةُ الـلّٰـهِ عَـلَيْه also explained:

Let’s say there’s a person falsely claiming to be a prophet. If one were to ask him to exhibit a miracle knowing full well he cannot do this and shall thus suffer disgrace, there is no problem in this. On the other hand, if somebody asks the false claimant to
